Flexible URS 3-Prong

In general, most stones are excellent removed by pulverization and/ or the use of a basket. However, there are plenty of situations where the stone is in a difficult position and practical impossible to catch with a basket.

A 3-Prong can offer a solution in these cases. This relative simple instrument gives the opportunity to grab a stone and move or even remove it. Most of the time it is the last possibility to reach the stone, when all the other options do not work anymore.

Flexible scopes also ensure that the basket slides against the stone, but eventually not captures the stone. A 3-Prong comes better in contact with the stone and is able to catch it. The 3-Prong is also used for distal stone fragments which are harder to catch with a basket. You can use this instrument when you want to minimize the risk of migration of the stone towards the kidney. However, the Accordion is a better alternative for this.
